Emmanuelle Chriqui sizzled on the red carpet at the ESPY awards, just as she does on Entourage every week. She sported subtle black-and-silver smoky eyes paired with nude lips.

Now, you may be thinking a nude lip is easy to achieve. Yet, finding the ideal shade isn't as simple as it sounds and neither is applying—nude showcases chapped puckers like no other.

Here are a few tips for achieving the best nude lip:

• To pick the right shade, remember lips will still need a slight bit of tint or shine so you don't look washed out. Blonds should angle for a slightly pinker tone, brunettes do well with mauves while those with darker skin can look for caramels and gingers.

• Prep your lips by exfoliating at night—with a toothbrush or lip scrub—and using lip balm.

• Start application with a layer of foundation. Follow with lipstick and lastly, top off with clear or tinted gloss on center of lower lip.
